In September 1993 Wheatley Nursery School was established and is in the unique position of sharing a headteacher with John Watson School.

The Wheatley  Nursery school logo is of Wheatley Windmill, a local historic landmark.

In September 2013 Stephen Passey became only the third headteacher to lead Wheatley Nursery School in its history.

In June 2014 Wheatley Nursery school formed a Hard Federation with John Watson  (a Community Special School) , both are on the Wheatley Primary campus. It continues to employ many of the same staff, and now shares a single governing body.
